Terms of Service

1. Who these terms are with

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern quotes, orders, and services provided by Crafted in 3D, a 3D printing, design, and machining business based in North Charleston, South Carolina, operated by Crafted in 3D LLC (3430 Buffalo Ave, Suite B, North Charleston, SC 29418). "We", "us", and "our" mean Crafted in 3D. "You" means the person or company placing an order.

By requesting a quote, uploading a file, or placing an order, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not place an order.

2. Quotes

  • Instant quotes on the Get a Quote page are calculated from your uploaded file. The total shown at checkout is what you pay. If we find a problem with the file after payment, we contact you and refund in full if we cannot make it.
  • An instant quote can be ordered for 7 days from the time the file was quoted. An order you have placed but not paid for keeps its price for 7 days from the day you place it. After that it expires and can no longer be paid, and you need a new quote.
  • Custom quotes for design work, machining, production runs, and non-standard jobs are sent by email and are valid for 7 days from the date issued unless stated otherwise.
  • Prices are in US dollars. US shipping is free. No sales tax is collected at this time.
  • A quote becomes an order when you pay for it.

3. Your files, designs, and rights

  • You keep all ownership of the models, drawings, and designs you send us. We claim no rights in them.
  • By submitting a file, you confirm that you own it or are authorized to have the part made, and that producing it does not infringe any patent, copyright, trademark, or other right. If a claim is made against us because of a file you sent, you are responsible for it and for our costs in answering it.
  • We do not resell, redistribute, or publish your files. We keep a copy as part of the order record (see section 10) and may show photographs of finished work in our portfolio unless you ask us in writing not to. Work done under an NDA is kept out of the portfolio automatically.
  • We will decline any job we believe is unlawful, unsafe, infringing, or a functional firearm component or otherwise restricted item.

4. Payment

  • Payment in full is charged at checkout. Work is scheduled once payment is received.
  • Instant orders are paid by card on Stripe's secure page at checkout, using a card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or Link. Custom-quoted orders are paid from your order page once the price is ready.
  • Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered directly with Stripe; we do not receive or store full card numbers. Your use of Stripe is also subject to Stripe's own terms.

5. Production and approval

  • Check your quote before you pay: the right file, quantity, material, finish, and any notes. Paying confirms it is correct. The cost of remaking an order placed with a wrong file or option is yours.
  • We look over each file to see that it can be made. That check is a best effort, not an engineering review. Unless you have hired us for design work, we do not check your design for fit, wall thickness, strength, or function, and any advice we give on design, material, or process is general guidance, not a guarantee.
  • We choose print orientation, supports, and machine settings to balance cost, finish, and strength. If your part needs a specific orientation or setting, say so in the order notes before you pay.
  • Where a first article or proof is part of the job, production of the full run does not start until you approve it.
  • Once you approve a file, a quote, and (if applicable) a first article, that is what we build. Changes after approval may change the price and the schedule.
  • 3D printing and machining are manufacturing processes with normal variation. Visible layer lines, minor surface marks, support-removal witness marks, slight warp on large flat parts, and dimensional variation within the stated tolerance are expected and are not defects.

6. Turnaround

Turnaround times, ship dates, and lead times are targets based on the current queue, material availability, and scope. They are estimates, not guarantees, and we are not liable for losses caused by a delay. If a delay is significant we will tell you as soon as we know.

7. Acceptance, reprints, and refunds

  • Inspect your order on receipt and tell us about any problem within 7 days.
  • If a part is defective or does not match the approved file and quote because of our error, we will reprint or remake it, or refund it, at our option.
  • We do not refund or remake parts that were produced correctly to an approved file, material, and quote, including where the approved design does not fit or perform as hoped, or where the submitted file itself contained an error.
  • A claim under this section covers parts that have not been used, modified, or damaged after delivery. We may ask for photographs or for the parts to be sent back before we remake or refund them. A remake uses the same file, material, and options as the original order.
  • Custom and made-to-order items are not returnable except under this section.
  • Payment for work already scheduled or started is non-refundable to the extent of work performed and materials committed, except as this section otherwise provides.

8. Shipping and pickup

  • Risk of loss passes to you when the order is handed to the carrier or picked up.
  • We are not responsible for carrier delays, damage in transit on uninsured shipments, or incorrect addresses you provide. Shipping-damage claims are between you and the carrier; we will help with documentation.
  • Local pickup is available in North Charleston, SC by appointment.

9. Warranty and limitation of liability

  • We warrant only that finished parts will match the approved file and quote within the stated tolerances and be free of defects in our workmanship, as covered in section 7.
  • Everything else is provided "as is". We make no other warranty, express or implied, including any warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. You are responsible for deciding whether a given material, process, and design are suitable for your application.
  • We do not guarantee the strength or other mechanical performance of a finished part. Figures on a material data sheet describe the raw material; a printed part's performance also depends on its design, orientation, and use.
  • Color can differ between a screen and the finished part, and slightly between batches of the same material.
  • To the maximum extent allowed by law, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including lost profits, downtime, or damage to other property, even if we were told they were possible.
  • Parts are not certified for aerospace, medical, life-support, automotive-safety, or other critical use unless we agree to that in writing. You are responsible for deciding whether a part meets the laws and regulations that apply to your use, including medical, dental, food-contact, automotive, defense, and consumer-product rules.

10. Data and file retention

We keep quote and order records, including a copy of submitted files, for as long as needed for business, warranty, and tax purposes. You may ask us to delete your uploaded files once an order is complete and the acceptance window in section 7 has passed. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle personal information.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. The version in effect when you place an order governs that order. The current version is always posted on this page with its "last updated" date.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Charleston County, South Carolina, and you consent to that venue.
