Some jobs start with a part, not a file. We 3D scan it and turn the scan into something you can use: a clean mesh to print, a solid STEP file to build on, or a fully parametric CAD model. See 3D scanning and reverse engineering explained.
What you get
- Scan to mesh. A watertight, cleaned STL or OBJ of the part as scanned.
- Scan to a workable STEP. A clean, solid STEP file you can open in CAD and keep working, not a raw mesh.
- Full reverse engineering. A parametric CAD model rebuilt from the scan, delivered as native CAD and STEP.
How it works
- Bring or ship us the part. Local customers can drop it at the North Charleston shop by appointment.
- We scan and process it to the level you asked for, and send a preview to approve.
- You get the files, and if you want, we print or machine the part in the same job.
Good fit for
- A discontinued or obsolete part that has to be recreated
- A hand-made or modified part that only exists physically
- Bringing a competitor or reference part into your own design process
- Digitizing sculpture, props, patterns, and one-of-a-kind objects
