Best for
- Hydroforming and rubber-pad press dies
- Blow-mold trial cavities
- Thermoforming molds
- Lay-up tools for cures to 125 C
Not the right choice for
- Lasting contact with hot water or hot, humid air
- Contact with gasoline, diesel, turpentine, or cleaners that contain ammonia or amines
Key properties
| Tensile strength | 53 to 69 MPa |
|---|---|
| Heat deflection | 105 to 144 C at 0.45 MPa, 93 to 142 C at 1.80 MPa |
What to use instead
- PPA (high-temp nylon) when you need more heat resistance than polycarbonate gives, in the carbon-filled grade.
- ASA when outdoor durability matters more than absolute strength.
- Nylon (PA12) when the part flexes or cycles.
The FDM material selector narrows the whole range by operating temperature, load, chemical exposure, and budget.
